Harper (Gillian Jacobs) is a young journalist who gets sent to Barcelona for an important interview. When her friends Nikki (Vanessa Bayer) and Leah (Phoebe Robinson) find out about her assignment they decide to tag along. Once in Barcelona, the girls run into an attractive DJ (Richard Madden). It doesn’t take long before the assignment takes a backseat to pursuing this mystery man all the way to the Mediterranean party island Ibiza.

For Gillian Jacobs fans, such as myself, Ibiza is a welcome continuation of her working relationship with Netflix. Although Netflix decided to cancel her show Love recently, it looks like Jacobs will be involved in future Netflix projects which is good news. One of the ironic things about Ibiza is the fact it wasn’t filmed on Ibiza, causing the local government to consider suing Netflix for suggesting the film takes place on Ibiza even though it was filmed elsewhere. Another reason why the locals were not amused with the film was the fact it perpetuates many of the negative stereotypes about the island as a party destination.

Ibiza is directed by Alex Richanbach and stars Gillian Jacobs, Vanessa Bayer and Phoebe Robinson. It will be released by Netflix on May 25th, 2018.

Have you ever been to Ibiza? Is it as much of a party island as people will have you believe? Let us know in the comments!
