I KILL GIANTS Trailer

Monsters are never just monsters, especially when it’s kids claiming to see them. That means Barbara, the young girl at the center of I Kill Giants, is battling more than just beasts.
Adapted from the comic book series of the same name, the film has kept many of the iconic images from the respected series. Barbara is still a girl who wears large, floppy bunny ears, an outward symbol that she refuses to kowtow to convention. She’s far too busy preparing for an imminent attack on her town, the signs for which may be entirely in her head. This unusual behavior attracts the attention of a potential new friend and a well-meaning teacher, both of whom get sucked into the dangerous battle.
As you can see from the trailer, this isn’t going to be a case of the giants being discussed and not seen, and since rendering these creatures requires a decent budget, the team behind the film was looking for a bankable name to fill its most prominent adult role. They got just that in Zoe Saldana, who won’t need to don extensive makeup this time around. Perhaps as extra security, Imogen Poots was also landed to play Barbara’s older sister, but the really key cast member here is Madison Wolfe.
Wolfe is best known for her lead role in The Conjuring 2, so she’s bringing experience playing integral kid roles to her take on Barbara. A cast like this should help out director Anders Walter, who is making his feature debut with this tricky material. The film got a warm reception after its premiere at TIFF, so this might be one of those strange films to watch out for.
I Kill Giants is directed by Anders Walter and stars Zoe Saldana, Imogen Poots, and Madison Wolfe. It will be released in the US on March 23rd, 2018 and in the UK on April 6th, 2018. For international release dates, click here.
