HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD Trailer

The adventures of Hiccup and Toothless conclude in How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, making this your last chance to see the high-flying duo swoop through cinemas.

If you’re unfamiliar with the series, then you better catch up fast as you’ll want to see this in theaters, in 3D. I’m not a big supporter of the format, but the flight sequences in this series utilizes the technology like no other. Battles that send Toothless and his dragon compatriots diving and swerving through the air feel like insane roller coaster rides in director Dean DeBlois’ hands, and it’s the only time I’ll say the inflated ticket price is worth it.

The series endures on much more than just its action sequences, though, having created a lovable space where enemies become friends and delightful physical comedy peppers everything. You get a taste for all of this in the trailer, and considering that major players like DeBlois (who has directed the entire series) and pretty much all of the voice cast are returning, I’m betting they’ll hit that charming sweet spot yet again.

If you couldn’t tell, I’m quite high on the How to Train Your Dragon films, going so far as to rank it among our best family series.  I’ll be sorry to see it go, but hopefully it exits on a high note.

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is directed by Dean DeBlois and stars Jay BaruchelAmerica Ferrera, and Cate Blanchett. It will be released in the UK on February 1st, 2019 and in the US on March 1st, 2019. For international release dates, click here.
