Tis the season for horror! One way to appreciate the genre is to get out to film festivals such as the 2023 HorrorFest!

The 2023 HorrorFest International Film Festival will take place in beautiful St. George, UT at the historic Electric Theater. The fest will run from Wednesday, October 18th through Saturday, October 21st. Over 50 independent horror-centric films–features and shorts from all around the world over the course of 4 days. Titles will include “Where the Devil Roams,” “Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls,”

“The Becomers,” “The Coffee Table,” “The Weird Kidz,” “Psychosis,” “Lore,” and a mystery movie of yesteryear.
The fest will also host filmmaker Q&As, panels, a live script read, and a live episode of the Cinemast Podcast with host Brandon Treadway and special guest Jamison Newlander. Writer/Actor/Artist Frank Dietz will also be on hand to host a live Scripts Gone Wild screenplay read.
Adam Mast discussed how the festival is shifting from retrospectives to more new work! Though, that doesn’t mean there won’t be those too, with as a secret showing of a classic film.

One director, Justin Geldzahler, has his first feature premiering at the fest, Glue Trap a film he says is like “Funny Games with more jokes and less violence.” We will be covering the film in the coming days, but I can agree, that’s an apt description.
He will also be on a panel discussing what constitutes a horror film. “Does horror require scares?” “What’s the difference between a horror and a thriller?” A conversation not to be missed!
He remarks that the horror community is one willing to look at indie films more than others, and this festival is further proof!
This little horror festival that could also come from a beautiful area that has some breathtaking locales like Zion Canyon, Snow Canyon, and Pine Valley.
Come for the horror…Stay for the sights!
