GRETA Trailer

Isabelle Huppert is a force to be reckoned with, and so is her character in Greta, the latest thriller from writer/director Neil Jordan.

At first Huppert seems harmless: a kind, lonely lady who strikes up a friendship with Chloë Grace Moretz. Moretz is isolated in her own way after moving to New York City, so when Moretz returns a handbag to Huppert, both are open to this unlikely relationship. Things start getting weird, though, and as alarming details start coming to light, Moretz tries to pull away. Little does she know how hard Huppert will fight and how many lines she’s willing to cross to keep Moretz around.

The whole scenario seems ripe for a slow build to craziness, something co-writer and director Neil Jordan has done time and again. He’s probably best known for Interview with the Vampire, but more recent films like The Brave One and Byzantium shows he’s still got it. Pairing him with a good story and some great actors often leads to interesting things, and boy does he have great actors here.

I don’t need to talk up Huppert to anyone (we all know she’s a god), and Moretz has long been a steady talent waiting to break out. Backing them up are the likes of Maika Monroe and Stephen Rea, so this film has the depth of talent to make this story crackle.

Greta is directed by Neil Jordan and stars Isabelle Huppert, Chloë Grace Moretz, and Maika Monroe. It will be released in the US on March 1st, 2019 and in the UK on April 19th, 2019. For international release dates, click here.
