GHOSTS OF WAR Trailer

Soldiers fight more than just Nazis in Ghosts of War, the latest from writer/director Eric Bress.

The job was never going to be easy. The small group of soldiers was supposed to protect a mansion, one recently reclaimed from Nazi generals. They’re in danger of being ambushed at the remote location, but what comes for them isn’t what they expected. The horrors of what had gone on at the mansion can’t be forgotten, even by the dead, and the poor soldiers are about to learn all about their new home’s past.

So it’s a horror movie masquerading as a war film, a twisted piece of historical fiction that fits right in with Bress’ own past. Years ago he wrote and directed The Butterfly Effect and wrote a couple of the Final Destination movies, so his bread and butter seem to be the inescapability of the past. It’s been a while since those films, though, so hopefully, he hasn’t lost his skills.

Brenton Thwaites has been on his own journey in the time Bress has been sitting out, working steadily for the past ten years without having a true breakout. He’s the lead here, and all that historical horror should give him plenty to sink his teeth into. The rest of the group is played by Theo Rossi, Skylar Astin, Kyle Gallner, and Alan Ritchson.

With a simultaneous theatrical and VOD release scheduled, this looks like one of the few films that’s sure to release in the coming weeks. Hopefully, it will deliver the chills.

Ghosts of War is directed by Eric Bress and stars Brenton Thwaites, Theo Rossi, and Skylar Astin, It will be released in the US and the UK on July 17th, 2020. Further release dates are not currently known.
