FUNNY PAGES Trailer

A young man strikes out on his own in Funny Pages, the feature debut of writer/director Owen Kline.
Robert has life figured out, or at least he’s figured out what he wants in life. He’s determined to make comics, and with his raw skills, he just might make it. So he takes the plunge, leaving school early to focus on his dream. Things don’t take off as quickly as he hoped, though, so when he encounters a real cartoonist he latches on in the hopes of making some in roads, even if he’s not everything Robert imagined.
This looks like a quirky coming-of-age comedy through and through, and the A24 label means its almost sure to find an audience. That’s good news for Kline, who needs to establish himself with his first feature. He’ll just need to make sure this isn’t a carbon copy of similar films that have come and gone over the years.
Starring as Robert is Eighth Grade alum Daniel Zolghadri, who also makes the big jump into a leading role. Co-starring as his comic mentor is Matthew Maher with Miles Emanuel, Maria Dizzia, and Josh Pais also appearing.
With strong reviews from its festival appearances, Funny Pages might be a great calling card for all involved.
Funny Pages is directed by Owen Kline and stars Daniel Zolghadri, Matthew Maher, and Miles Emanuel. It will be released in the US on August 26th. Further release dates are not currently known.
