FOXCATCHER Trailer

Could Foxcatcher be the next big Oscar bait film? Foxcatcher is the unsettling true story of American millionaire John du Pont’s relationship with American Olympic wrestling brothers, Mark and Dave Schultz. Foxcatcher is helmed by Bennet Miller, and stars Channing Tatum, Steve Carrell, and Mark Ruffalo.

The Foxcatcher trailer is more unnerving and creepy than horror films nowadays. Watching Steve Carrell’s performance in just the trailer alone was enough for me to take notice and say that Foxcatcher has the chance to be Oscar bait. Carrell looks like he is the role of Du Pont, and it’ll be refreshing to see the flip from his previous roles on The Office, or Anchorman, or Dinner for Schmucks.

Watch the trailer below.

Now hear me out that this film will make or break Channing Tatum. It won’t break his career: he is still a big name and he still has comedy to fall back on, but this will make or break his legacy as a legitimate actor. It looks like we will finally see If Tatum can get an acting nomination at the Oscars. This is his film to do it or start the path to more amazing work and do it.

The only down-point to this trailer is Steve Carrell’s prosthetic nose. It looks a little too obvious and unnecessary since it doesn’t make Carrell look anymore like John du Pont. Of course this is just a nitpick and shouldn’t sway anyone much from seeing the film.

I do have high hopes for this film after watching the trailer. The suspenseful vibe is there, the cinematography looks outstanding, and the acting looks fantastic. This looks like a film to mark on your calendars.

Foxcatcher releases on November 14th, 2014 in the U.S. and January 9th 2015 in the U.K. For other release dates around the world feel free to visit this page.

What do you think, is Foxcatcher Oscar bait worthy, or is it just going to be another “blah” Drama?
