ETERNALS Trailer

A new group of superheroes appear in Eternals, the latest from reigning Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao.

Right off the bat, I want to clear something up: Zhao can make whatever movie she wants to make, and if you’re one of those people poo-pooing her co-writing and directing a Marvel movie, you can exit now. She’s made two amazing movies in a row with The Rider and Nomadland, and what she wants to do with that success is entirely up to her. She’s given us no reason to doubt she can pull off a Marvel movie, so let her try in peace.

Now that that’s out of the way, let’s look at the Marvel movie she’s done. Eternals is about a group of immortal beings who’ve been hanging out on Earth for a long time and are finally ready to help us out. Okay, I don’t actually know much about these characters and this trailer isn’t giving away much of the plot. I guess the events of Endgame have made them decide to poke their heads up, which can only mean the threats to Earth are escalating.

This also means we’re getting a whole new group of stars in the MCU. Much has been made about the laundry list of massive stars in this one, and why not? It includes Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, Barry Keoghan, and Kit Harington. That’s a list worthy of attention, as is basically everything about this much speculated about entry in the MCU.

Eternals is directed by Chloé Zhao and stars Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan, and Richard Madden. It will be released in the US and the UK on November 5th, 2021. For international release dates, click here.
