ENOLA HOLMES Trailer

There’s a new sleuth in town in Enola Holmes, the feature debut of director Harry Bradbeer.

Yes, Enola is related to that Holmes. She’s his little sister, in fact, and it turns out Sherlock isn’t a one-off talent. Their mother has been raising Enola to be just as perceptive and capable as her famous brother. So, when the matriarch mysteriously disappears and Enola’s brothers (there’s another elder brother, Mycroft) fail to recognize her skill, she must work the case on her own.

This charmer is slated for a worldwide release on Netflix, and if it doesn’t exactly strike you as their usual fare, that’s because it wasn’t intended for Netflix. It was going to get a theatrical release before the pandemic swept away everyone’s plans, which is an unfortunate turn for Bradbeer. He’s got a long history working in TV, and this was to be his break onto the big screen. The Netflix release will allow plenty of people to see it, but it doesn’t exactly have the same luster.

I’m sure having Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown headlining made this an enticing opportunity for Netflix, as their subscribers will instantly recognize her face. The likes of Henry Cavill, Sam Claflin, and Helena Bonham Carter as co-stars is nothing to sniff at, either.

This teen mystery should draw in plenty of viewers. Hopefully, it is as peppy as advertised.

Enola Holmes is directed by Harry Bradbeer and stars Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill, Sam Claflin, and Helena Bonham Carter. It will be released on Netflix worldwide on September 23rd, 2020.
