THE EAGLE HUNTRESS Trailer

A girl holding an eagle is a cool image, and that’s pretty much the point of The Eagle Huntress, a family-friendly documentary that’s been charming viewers throughout its festival run.

The film picks up the story of Aisholpan, a thirteen-year-old training in the male-dominated world of eagle hunting. She’s learning the skill from her father, and in doing so the pair are breaking the traditional patriarchal lineage. In front of her is a prominent competition and the harsh Mongolian winter, when she must prove herself in a real hunt with her feathered partner.

Ratings boards around the world have approved the film for all ages, meaning that the obstacles Aisholpan faces won’t be too aggressive. This is bubblegum girl power, a sweet tale that should play well to young girls while keeping everyone else entertained with its stunning landscapes and aerial feats.

Securing the friendly feminist vibe is narrator and executive producer Daisy Ridley, and she’s far from the only big name to throw their support behind the project. Morgan Spurlock also serves as executive producer, securing both the financial backing to complete the film and an original song from Sia for the big finale.

I’ll refrain from a soaring pun, but know that this documentary should give you the inspirational boost we all periodically need.

The Eagle Huntress is directed by Otto Bell. It stars Aisholpan and is narrated by Daisy Ridley. It will be released in the U.S. on November 2nd, 2016 and in the U.K. on December 23rd, 2016. Further release dates are not currently known.
