DUMB AND DUMBER TO Trailer

It’s been 20 long years since we left left Harry (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd (Jim Carrey) on the road out of town. They return under direction from the Farrelly Brothers in a new adventure, Dumb and Dumber To. When Harry finds out he has a daughter, he and Lloyd embark on a trip to find her. Fraida Felcher (Kathleen Turner) is the mystery child’s mother, making the news all the more surprising. Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels have had their own successes since the original came out in 1994 and I’m hoping that their willingness to return is a sign of a quality script. I’d hate to see a lazy shot at a comedy sequel based on nostalgia. The trailer seems promising to say the least; check it out below.
Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas Return
The first scene is almost disturbing. A 20-year joke, pretending to be catatonic just to say, “Got ya.” The boys are back in full force. There are a few callbacks to the original movie. The infamous sheep-dog van makes its return, tearing down the road. We also see them sharing transport built for one and a return to the old apartment. It’s a dash of the familiar with a helping of new material. Who’s the guy in camouflage blending in with the vending machine? So random. It seems like the Farrelly Brothers really swung for the fences on this one.
Check out one of the stills from the movie.
I love the original – it’s a classically quotable film that never quite shows you all its cards. I really hope this isn’t a cash grab. It’s going to be nearly impossible to live up to the first outing. We have about 5 months to find out what they’ve come up with.
Dumb and Dumber To will be released November 14th in the US and December 19th in the UK. For any other release dates, look here.
I can’t wait to see it but I’m keeping my expectations in check. So what do you think? Is there hope for such a long-term sequel to still be funny? Will we be tickled or just plain ticked? Will you be there opening night?
