THE DISASTER ARTIST Trailer

The Disaster Artist is an upcoming adaptation of the eponymous James Franco and Seth Rogen we now have a film about the making of The Room coming out in late 2017.

The trailer shows us how one of the most perplexing moments in the film came to be and it must be said, it’s funnier than I thought it would be. The moment itself (the infamous rooftop scene) was one of the strangest things I’ve ever seen in a film because of the very sudden change of pace that comes out of nowhere, much like the scene in which some of the characters play football in public in suits for no reason whatsoever. That’s the thing about The Room, much of the film makes no sense which is probably the reason why filmmakers like James Franco and Seth Rogen, who have participated in their fair share of stoner comedies, are attracted to the material.

The Disaster Artist has the potential to be a celebration of amateur filmmakers who are excited about the fact they’re making a film kind of like The Moguls (aka The Amateurs) or Ed Wood. The trailer makes it seem like this will be a film that people laugh with rather than laugh at which is nice, I think we’ve spent enough time laughing at Tommy Wiseau‘s expense.

The Disaster Artist is directed by James Franco and stars James Franco, Alison Brie, Zoey Deutch, Zac Efron, Seth Rogen, Paul Scheer, Sharon Stone, Jacki Weaver and Tommy Wiseau. It will see a limited release in the U.S. on December 1st, with a wide release scheduled for December 8th, 2017. For international release dates, click here.
