D’INKED – A TATTOO REMOVAL DOCUMENTARY: An Eye Opener

Have you thought of a small or big tattoo on your body as a form of self-expression? It is certainly more mainstream now to see a tattoo as part of an individual’s personal statement. What is it like, to be inked on your skin? And what if you change your mind afterward? D’inked captures the art of tattoo, from ink to removal. The film includes the perspective of talented artists, the laser specialists, and well-tattooed clients.

D’Inked is must-see film, if you are considering a permanent tattoo on your face, neck or body. It also shows you how much the tattoo industry has changed over time.

A Tattoo Removal Journey…

The film begins with a scene that makes you cringe, as a young man named Jake is bleeding from his tattoo removal process. The sight of blood, ice and pain will certainly make you ask whether it is worth getting a tattoo. During his tattoo-shedding process, the film also shows you the various removal techniques, in particular, laser technology.

Surprisingly, Jake goes on to fifteen more laser sessions to remove his tattoo. Watching his journey, you realize that it doesn’t take one session for most tattoo removals and there is no guarantee that the ink will completely disappear even after multiple sessions.

There is a more surprising end-result to all of Jake’s sessions, in particular the choice he makes after going through this tortuous and long removal process. Apparently, his decision is a now common choice that many people make after a painful removal process. This aspect is fascinating, to attempt to understand… After all this pain, what would you do?

The Evolving Tattoo Experience

According to D’Inked, one out of five Americans have at least one tattoo. There are quite a few people walking around with a tattoo. I have always wondered how many people actually stay in love with the same art on their body for years and years? Would you become tired of looking at it, as one does with hair color and makeup? Wouldn’t people’s taste change and maybe even lifestyle?

What if it was an impulsive act or if it didn’t come out the way you imagined? D’Inked captures and responds to all of these questions, by sharing the narratives of various people, who are in the beginning to the removal aspect of the tattoo cycle. Concluding from these experiences, you realize how a permanent tattoo has evolved into something less permanent over time.

D’Inked: To Ink or Not To Ink ?

Tattoos have become more culturally accepted as an art form or personal expression. With the new generation of laser removal technology, you have more options with what you can choose to redo. It isn’t without cost in different ways and this is where D’Inked shows you what these costs look like. As one person says in the film, “Think before you ink.” D’Inked delivers a compelling and comprehensive overview of how best to ink.
