DESIERTO Trailer

This is the trailer for Jonás Cuarón‘s first feature length film, Gravity, as well as for Alfonso’s upcoming project, A Boy and His Shoe.
In Desierto, a handful Mexican migrant workers are hoping to find a better life in the United States. They cross the border – but find anything but a better life there, because the situation there soon turns into an unexpected horror story, as the border is patrolled by a psychopath murderous American. The man hunts and kills the Mexicans, and they are chased across the desert.
The trailer makes Desierto come across as a corny horror, but in an age where illegal immigrants and asylum seekers are frequently featured on the daily news, and made by Mexican directors instead of American ones, it might actually have something interesting to say. Hopefully it’s not as on the nose as the trailer suggests.
Desierto is directed by Jonás Cuarón, and features Gael García Bernal and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the leads. It gets its release in the U.S. on March 4, 2016, but does not have any international releases scheduled as of yet.
