DECISION TO LEAVE Trailer

A murder investigation spins out of control in Decision to Leave, the latest from co-writer/director Park Chan-wook.

The circumstances surrounding the dead man is quite mysterious. He’s found at the bottom of a mountain, so a fall is certain. But why he fell is the question, and in investigating the dead man’s life, detective Hae-jun meets the man’s wife, Seo-rae. Hae-jun’s co-workers find her suspicious but he finds alluring. From there spins a classic neo-noir, one soaked in romance and blood.

It’s familiar territory for Park Chan-wook, who has toned down his violence since his Vengeance trilogy but still makes movies that mix threat and romance in alluring ways. It’s been six years since his last feature, The Handmaiden, but his name is still so synonymous with bold, captivating films that it’s impossible not to have high expectations for Decision to Leave.

Starring as detective Hae-jun is Park Hae-il, alum of Bong Joon Ho’s The Host and Memories of Murder. Seo-rae is played by Lust, Caution’s Tang Wei, and the film co-stars Lee Jung-hyun, Go Kyung-pyo, and Park Yong-woo.

With strong reviews from its festival run and its selection as South Korea’s entry for the Best International Feature Film at the Oscars, this is one you’re sure to hear more about and will want to check out.

Decision to Leave is directed by Park Chan-wook and stars Park Hae-il and Tang Wei. It will be released in the US on October 14th and in the UK on October 21st. For international release dates, click here.
