DAY SHIFT Trailer

Stirring up vampires and laughs is Day Shift, the feature debut of director J.J. Perry.

The film follows Bud, a family man and longtime vampire hunter who has worn out his welcome with the unionized slayers after getting too messy with his kills. Down on his luck and cash, Bud needs money fast to keep his family together, so he begs the union for another chance. They magnanimously let him back in, but they pair him with an overwhelmed rookie who doesn’t provide much help.

The movie promises lots of splatter in this trailer and a buddy comedy spin on the whole scenario because it’s not enough to imagine a California rife with vampires. You’ve got to add some extra wackiness, too. Trying to hold this all together is Perry, who is hardly the directing novice he might seem to be. He’s a longtime stuntman/stunt coordinator/assistant director, and it’s likely he’s had a hand in some of your favorite action sequences over the years. Now he just has to keep the movie around them in order.

Starring as Bud is Jamie Foxx, who’s paired expertly with Dave Franco as his rookie partner. The two seem like a natural odd couple, and when you add in a supporting turn by Snoop Dogg, the whole thing has the assured feeling of knowing precisely what it wants to be.

Day Shift is directed by J.J. Perry and stars Jamie Foxx, Dave Franco, and Snoop Dogg. It will be released worldwide on Netflix on August 12th.
