DA 5 BLOODS Trailer

Spike Lee takes us to Vietnam in Da 5 Bloods, and it isn’t for fun and games.

The film follows four veterans as they head back to the former battleground, one that left plenty of wounds on them and everyone else involved. They’ve come for two reasons: to find the remains of their fallen leader and to find the gold they all hid. So, a mix of the noble and the greedy drives them, which just might be enough to push them through the trials that linger in this haunted place.

Lee co-writes and directs here, and after the success of BlacKkKlansman, people are even more excited than usual for his next offering. Like with that film and many of his others, it looks like this has an eye on the past and the present, with the inescapability of the former wreaking havoc on the latter.

As per usual, Lee has attracted a great cast, with Chadwick Boseman leading the way as the dead squad leader. This is a big, sprawling picture, though, so there’s a lot of names to go along with him. Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, Clarke Peters, Norm Lewis, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Mélanie Thierry, and Paul Walter Hauser also star.

So basically this is Lee taking on the Vietnam War with a hell of a cast. You know you’ll check it out.

Da 5 Bloods is directed by Spike Lee and stars Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, and Chadwick Boseman. It will be released worldwide on Netflix on June 12th, 2020.
