CREED Trailer

Creed

Eye of the Tiger. The Italian Stallion. Ring a bell? If you’re a Rocky fan, then you would know these phrases like the back of your hand. It has been almost forty years since Rocky (1976), but that iconic scene in which Sylvester Stallone ran up and down the steps of a museum in snowy Philadelphia while the Rocky theme kicked in still lives fresh in our minds. The Rocky series pretty much set the standard for the sports movie genre.

In 2015, at the age of 68, seeing Stallone back in the ring as Rocky would be an implausible idea. Still, that does not mean Rocky’s gone from the silver screen for good. In Creed, we see Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) return to train up-and-coming boxer and Apollo Creed’s son Adonis (Michael B. Jordan). Based on the drama-driven trailer, Adonis’ life pretty much mirrors that of his trainer. Moreover, in the final scene, he even wears the same tracksuit top from the Rocky steps scene as he runs through the neighborhood. A willing boxer struggling to make ends meet, Adonis must go through what his predecessor has experienced as he tries to find the right balance between love, life and career. Narratively, Creed represents a modernized, or if not, Motown-ized take on the 1976 original.

Creed is directed by Ryan Coogler. It stars Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone and will be released in the U.S. on November 25th, 2015. As for the rest of the world, you can look it up here.

Tell us what you think of Creed? Do you think Creed will be as successful as the series Rocky?
