CLIMAX Trailer

Argentinian filmmaker Gaspar Noé is one of the most controversial directors working today and the marketing for his new film, Climax, leans heavily into this. In some of the best marketing material produced for any film so far this year, Climax’s new poster references the repulsion many viewers have felt towards Noé’s previous movies, and tantalisingly asks them to try his new film. The poster can be seen here.
Set in the 1990s the movie follows a group of urban dancers who meet to have a party in a forest, only to learn that the sangria they are throwing down has been drugged. The new trailer for the film gives us little more detail but provides just enough for us to understand this will be vintage Noé madness, with the effects of the drugs clearly taking their disastrous toll on the dancers.
Despite the heavily mixed reviews his previous movies such as Love and Irréversible have received from critics, Climax has been a hit so far. It premiered recently at the Cannes Film Festival as part of the Director’s Fortnight, and the internet was immediately abuzz with rave reviews. A24 have quickly picked up domestic rights for the movie too, which is a match made in heaven (or hell depending on how you look at it).
Climax is directed by Gaspar Noé and features Sofia Boutella. It will be released in France on September 19th 2018, but further release dates for the film are unknown as of yet.
