Merry Christmas, Love, Netflix! Dying for new episodes of the dark rebooted teenage witch, and April seems like a lifetime away? Netflix is here to give you a little dose of Christmas cheer with a haunting and terrifying holiday at the Spellman’s Mortuary. As the trailer states, “Christmas is the best time for ghosts”.

Planned to pick up chronologically, this will be the first time viewers will see Sabrina after putting her name in the Dark Lord’s book and becoming imbued with his dark powers in the season finale. With holiday themes weaving through the entire episode, as well as the pagan holiday of the Winter Solstice, it seems the dark reboot will have a new take on holiday cheer. What starts as a darkened take on Christmas quickly descends into holiday hauntings, ghosts and terrors lurking – and it seems more than one character’s life will be in danger.

The trailer gives a first peek not only into Sabrina’s slightly altered look following her new gifts, but also her continued inclusion of her friends into her supernatural nature. With her friends at her side, and in danger, this Midwinter Tale seems to offer a taste of Sabrina’s potentially altered interaction with her Mortal life – but thankfully a confirmation she has not cut all ties. There is even a moment of Sabrina giving Harvey a Christmas gift, even after ending their relationship in the final moments of season one. Could their be hope for a holiday rekindle as well?

With the Midwinter Tale providing only one episode to viewers, this last minute add on from the streaming service will be a welcomed gift as viewers wait for season 2 in April. So grab the eggnog, light the Yule log and dive back into the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and stars Kiernan Shipka, Ross Lynch, Lucy Davis, Chance Perdomo, Michelle Gomez and Miranda Otto. It will be released on Netflix on December 14, 2018.
