Announcing the return of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina much sooner than would have been expected, Netflix has shared their first trailer for what seems to be an intense second installment of the successful adaptation. Season one of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina had been a rollercoaster of success, the culmination of episodes slamming viewers with an incredible conclusion. Season two seems ready to deliver with fiery resolve and wicked intentions.
Beginning with a cute and easily recognizable tribute to the 1990s sitcom with Sabrina indecisively changing her clothes in front of the mirror, this first look into season two gives way to a dark, sultry, dangerous and tempting atmosphere fans are sure to love. While the trailer is only a minute long, and its fast paced editing to the rhythm of a fitting cover of The Runaways”Cherry Bomb” flies by, viewers are able to get a glimpse into the new Sabrina – and the dangers that may lurk for those close to her.
By season’s end, Sabrina seemed better in line with her inner struggle between good and evil, her new looks and aura radiating an uneasy and unnerving flirtation with the darker side of her new powers and promise to the Dark Lord. Where season one was Sabrina resisting her dark baptism, it will be interesting to see her begin to embrace the darkness she was circumstantially forced into. It will also be interesting if any resentment rushes in, drowning her emotions and mental state. At the conclusion of season one, Sabrina seemed to be a completely different person, embracing her new destiny. Yet within the new trailer, there seems to be a continued turmoil, good against evil, that may become an interesting internal conflict as Sabrina seemingly appears to continue both her mortal and supernatural lives.
With an electrifying and tantalizing trailer, the entire cast on board to return, and a devious nature lurking in the corner, the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina seems poised for one epic return. April 5, 2019 can’t come fast enough.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and stars Kiernan Shipka, Ross Lynch, Lucy Davis, Chance Perdomo, Michelle Gomez and Miranda Otto. It will be released on Netflix on April 5, 2019.
