CHILD’S PLAY Trailer

Playtime is about to get a lot bloodier thanks to Child’s Play, a remake of the 1988 movie that put Chucky into the cultural lexicon.
In the original film series, a doll is imbued with the soul of a serial killer, transforming the innocuous plaything into a murderous nightmare. The origins of this new version of Chucky haven’t been revealed yet, but considering the film is being called a remake, I would image the gist will be the same. Taken unawares is a mother and son, who must first puzzle out the bizarre turn of events and then take down the doll without appearing crazy to everyone around them.
The task of reviving the franchise falls on director Lars Klevberg, whose short Polaroid was successful enough to launch him into this Child’s Play remake. That means he’s fairly untested, and this will be a big spotlight to either succeed or fail in.
Bringing some security to the project is Aubrey Plaza, who will outrun peril as the mother of the unfortunate family. Her son is played by Gabriel Bateman, who also brings some experience having starred in Lights Out. But the real star here is Chucky himself, who remains largely in shadow in this trailer. Hopefully the new iteration will keep him just as monstrously terrifying.
Child’s Play is directed by Lars Klevberg and stars Aubrey Plaza, Gabriel Bateman, and Brian Tyree Henry. It will be released in the US on June 21st, 2019. For international release dates, click here.
