THE CATCHER WAS A SPY Trailer

The Catcher Was a Spy tells the incredible story of former MLB player turned spy Moe Berg (Paul Rudd). After his active career as a player, Berg decided to volunteer for the Office of Strategic Services (a predecessor of the C.I.A.). Berg had travelled abroad before as part of an effort to promote baseball in Japan. Once he joined the O.S.S. he was sent to Europe where he met future leaders such as Tito and wrote reports that helped influence which leaders received U.S. backing. During his time in Europe he also met with many of the Nazi scientists in an effort to try and convince them to defect to the U.S.

Paul Rudd is mostly known for his roles in comedies such as Clueless, Role Models and Ant-Man. It’ll be interesting to see him in what looks to be a tense spy thriller set during the Second World War. Paul Rudd is not the only star involved in this project, the rest of the cast features a large number of highly respected character actors such as Sienna Miller, Jeff Daniels and Paul Giamatti.

The Catcher Was a Spy is directed by Ben Lewin and stars Paul Rudd, Mark Strong, Sienna Miller and Jeff Daniels. It will be released in the U.S on June 22nd, 2018 with an as of yet unknown U.K. release date. For internationel release dates click here.
