CATCH THE FAIR ONE Trailer

A woman uses her particular set of skills to find her sister in Catch the Fair One, the latest from co-writer/director Josef Kubota Wladyka.
Kaylee made a rough but good living as a professional boxer. Always by her side was her sister, or she was until she got swept up in a human trafficking ring. In order to find her, Kaylee makes the risky move to infiltrate the ring herself, posing as a victim and then fighting her way up the chain of command until she can save both of them.
It’s a familiar story, but it’s one that’s being conjured up by an unusual group. The film is a transition for its star, Kali Reis, who is a world champion boxer in real life. This isn’t simply casting for reality, though. Reis co-wrote the film with Wladyka, incorporating her support of the Murdered and Missing Indigenous Women movement into the premise of the story.
Wladyka, the other half of this unusual pairing, brings the background in film. He took home the award for Best New Narrative Director from the Tribeca Film Festival for his debut, Manos Sucias, and has been working in television since.
The film they made together has been received warmly during its festival run, so despite its familiarity, it looks like one worth checking out.
Catch the Fair One is directed by Josef Kubota Wladyka and stars Kali Reis, Daniel Henshall, and Tiffany Chu. It will be released in the US on February 11th, 2022. International release dates are not currently known.
