Bright is an upcoming urban fantasy crime thriller by David Ayer about a human police officer Daryl Ward (Will Smith) and his orc partner Nick Jacoby (Joel Edgerton) trying to keep the streets of Los Angeles safe for both humans and aliens… Err I mean, ‘magical creatures’ as they’re called in this universe. This film seems to be a combination of elements from previous Ayer films such as Training Day and End of Watch as well as the Bad Boys and Men in Black franchises. Ward is not exactly happy about being partnered up with an orc but since the department wants to promote diversity within its ranks he doesn’t have much of a choice in the matter.

Ward and Jacoby start to bond but things start to go awry when they encounter a young Elf named Tikka (Lucy Fry). Tikka is in possession of a magic wand which soon becomes the most wanted object in the city as it supposedly grants wishes. As all the criminals in the city start to come after the wand, Ward and Jacoby will have to rely on each other more than ever to ensure it stays safe. It is hard to imagine what this film will be like, will it work or will it be silly beyond belief?

Bright is directed by David Ayer and stars Will Smith, Chris Browning, Joel Edgerton, Lucy Fry, Edgar Ramirez and Noomi Rapace. Bright will be available worldwide through Netflix on December 22nd, 2017.
