BRAVEN Trailer

Braven is a film about Joe Braven (Jason Momoa), a logger forced to protect his family from a gang trying to recover the drug money they’ve hidden on his property. Once Joe and his family discover what’s going on it’s already too late. They’re caught in a Straw Dogs type of situation and, lucky for us, the best solution to a situation like that is setting traps and firing off a whole bunch of bullets.

Siege films are always fun because they give filmmakers the opportunity to let their characters discover each other in a whole new way. Some people turn out to be heroes while others choke under pressure. While an action thriller starring Jason Momoa may not seem like the vehicle to explore such ideas, a trailer only shows you so much.

A good example is the Liam Neeson film The Grey which from the trailer seemed like it would be an action thriller about men trying to survive in the wilderness after their plane goes down. As it turned out it was a much more thoughtful film, certainly one of the best films Neeson has been in since the first film in the Taken series. Let’s hope Braven manages to surprise us as well.

Braven is directed by Lin Oeding and stars Jason Momoa, Garret Dillahunt, Jill Wagner and Stephen Lang. It will be released in the U.S. on February 2nd, 2018 with an as of yet unknown U.K. release date. For international release dates click here.

Which kind of siege film do you prefer? The straight up action films or the more thoughtful, psychologically inclined films? Let us know in the comments!
