A Superb Animated Mash-Up of LOTR, Star Wars & More

In the following animated video, a dozen and more story worlds are mashed together as Gandalf and Gollum fight, Batman goes into battle with the Joker and Two Face, Sith battle Jedi, Superman and Superwoman fight crime together.

This must be one of the best promo-reels I’ve ever seen, and it’s definitely a must-see! Watch the video – you’ll definitely enjoy it.

The animation shows glimpses of dozens of stories and worlds – each battle we see more impressive than the previous. Despite the fact that none of the sequences are related, whatsoever, the video works toward a climax, assisted by the excellent, befitting score. The animation is spectacular; the short impressions we get show us thoroughly worked out worlds, rich with details, colors and light. The characters and their presentation is impressive – particularly the one of Batman, when he jumps out of his car.

This video is the work of Blur Studio, a company specializing in visual effects and animation. They were responsible for, for instance, the space sequences in James Cameron‘s Avatar, and have worked on games like Halo Wars, Dragon Age: Origin and Star Wars: The Old Republic. Furthermore, they were nominated for an Academy Award for their short film Gopher Broke in 2004.

If you’d like to see more of Blur Studio‘s work, check out their projects page, here.

If anything, this video proves, to me, that you can do anything with animation. It’s amazing.

Do you like the mash-up of fictional worlds? What do you think of Blur’s VFX-reel?

If you liked their reel, don’t forget to share it on your social networks! ^_^
