BLINDSPOTTING Trailer

Race relations continues to be a serious issues in America, but that doesn’t mean Blindspotting can’t have a little fun while imparting its lessons.

Written by stars Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal, the film is based loosely on their experiences growing up in Oakland. Partially a buddy comedy and partially an examination of a city undergoing rapid gentrification, the film takes place in the waning days of Collin’s (Diggs) probation. He just needs to stay out of trouble a little longer, but his raucous friend and the city’s unpredictable nature seems to be conspiring against him.

Premiering at the Sundance Film Festival with other similarly themed movies, Blindspotting may have been overshadowed by the breakout hit Sorry to Bother You, but it still earned a warm reception in its own right. There’s plenty to say on the topics these films broach, so as the saying goes, the more the merrier.

Blindspotting serves as the feature debut of director Carlos López Estrada, who will have strike a balance between the message-heavy material and the lively friendship at the film’s center. Luckily, he’s worked with Diggs and Casal on projects in the past, so hopefully the team’s previous success can be carried over to this medium.

Blindspotting is directed by Carlos López Estrada and stars Daveed DiggsRafael Casal, and Janina Gavankar. It will be released in the US on July 20th, 2018. Further release dates are not currently known.
