BLADE RUNNER 2049 Trailer

Blade Runner is one of those properties that has fascinated people for many years, while not a big hit at the time of its release its status has grown steadily over the years and with each new cut that was released more people jumped on the bandwagon. Blade Runner is one of many films based on the works of Philip K. Dick, the original 1968 novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? was a short story about a retired bounty hunter who gets brought back to retire (kill) a number of androids that have gone rogue.

In the future, November 2019, androids have a four-year lifespan during which they are used for all sorts of slave labor. The escaped androids have left the off-world colonies for earth to find their maker in hopes of prolonging their lifespans.

After many years, as well as many different versions of the original film, we’re now only a few months away from the release of Blade Runner 2049. Even though the trailer doesn’t lift the veil on what the story will be, it does a great job of showing us a new vision of what the future might look like. It looks like there will be plenty of neon around, but more interestingly it looks like Blade Runner 2049 will show us a much larger world than the original film.

I was especially pleased to hear the music used in the trailer which hearkens back to the original score by Vangelis. When this project was first announced I wasn’t sure whether it was a good thing or not but I have to say, seeing this trailer and looking at the list of people who are involved with the project at this point I’d be lying if I said I’m not excited to see what they came up with.

Blade Runner 2049 is directed by Denis Villeneuve and stars Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling, Dave Bautista, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Jared Leto, Edward James Olmos and Robin Wright. It will be released in the U.K. and the U.S. on October 6th 2017. For international release dates click here.
