BEST SELLERS Trailer

A reluctant author’s career is revived in Best Sellers, the feature debut of director Lina Roessler.
Harris Shaw is far from the top of his game. He’s lost the feel for what people want in their books and authors, so he’s pretty much given up, resigned to drinking away the rest of his life. That is, until his publisher calls, desperate for a hit and holding him to the last book he owes them. He obliges with the book but is more reluctant about the tour, so his publisher accompanies him, pushing him back into the world.
This appears to be a feel-good buddy comedy, a well-worn genre that should be a relatively comfortable way for Roessler to break into features. She’s got several shorts under her belt, but whether this works or not will be very telling, particularly since she’s got the talent to cover any minor stumbles.
The key roles, the aging author and the desperate publisher, are played by none other than Michael Caine and Aubrey Plaza. No one doubts their ability to pull this off, and watching them bounce off each other in the broad, silly, but warm way this trailer promises should be a good time.
Best Sellers is directed by Lina Roessler and stars Aubrey Plaza, Michael Caine, and Cary Elwes. It will be released in the US on September 17th, 2021. For international release dates, click here.
