THE BELKO EXPERIMENT Trailer

Murder is one way to downsize. Whether that’s the real motivation for the coworker bloodbath in The Belko Experiment or not, given its bleak moments of humor, a ridiculously inane justification isn’t out of the question.

The film is written by James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), so you should be pretty confident that it will blend horror and humor effectively. Gunn certainly found a weird premise in a real office war, but its one that should be cathartic for many people. We all have our workplace gripes, and there’s something primally satisfying about fighting for your life instead of a paycheck.

The cast is a cattle call of familiar faces, with no huge star as an obvious survivor. That should up the unpredictability factor, which already promises to be big given the setting. There’s few effective weapons in an office, so viewers will likely see some inventive, bloody kills. Hopefully the person on the receiving end isn’t your favorite character actor of the group.

The film had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival as part of its Midnight Madness lineup, with distribution rights quickly being snatched up by BH Tilt and Orion Releasing. Those companies know how to sell a slick piece of horror, which makes The Belko Experiment look like a promisingly bloody good time.

The Belko Experiment is directed by Greg McLean and stars John Gallagher Jr., Tony Goldwyn, and Adria Arjona. It will be released in the U.S. on March 17th, 2017. Further release dates are not currently known.
