BAD THERAPY Trailer

A couple gets some interesting advice in Bad Therapy, the debut of director William Teitler.

Based on the book “Judy Small”, the film follows Bob and Susan as they navigate a bumpy period in their relationship. Susan pushes for couples counseling, which she thinks is a responsible way to address their issues. Problem is, the counseling is only as good as the counselor, and in their case, the counselor is no good. The advice they get is ludicrous, but they follow it to (hopefully) hilarious results.

This promises to be a silly, lighthearted romantic comedy, a tone I would imagine is carried over from the book since author Nancy Doyne handled the adaptation herself. She turned over her baby to Teitler, a first-time director but longtime producer of big entertainments like The Polar Express and the Jumanji series.

Headlining the film is Michaela Watkins as the therapist and Alicia Silverstone and Rob Corddry as the bumbling couple, the latter of which are such a dependable and recognizable duo that the film should sell when it starts popping up on people’s VOD lists. And that’s where the film is going, straight to VOD, and in today’s stay-at-home world, a couple of recognizable faces and a lighthearted mood might be all this needs to delight people.

Bad Therapy is directed by William Teitler and stars Michaela Watkins, Alicia Silverstone, and Rob Corddry. It will be released in the US on VOD on April 17th, 2020. Further release dates are not currently known.
