BABY DRIVER Trailer

Edgar Wright is a filmmaker I’ve been a fan of for a while now, he wrote and directed the TV series Cornetto trilogy, all of which starred his frequent collaborators Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. Baby Driver is his first film in a few years after he spent a number of months working on Ant Man before leaving the project over creative differences.

Baby Driver tells the story of a talented getaway driver named Baby (played by Ansel Elgort) who listens to music nonstop. Baby falls in love and wants to escape the criminal underworld to be with the girl of his dreams (played by Lily James). This proves to be rather difficult given the fact that his boss (played by Kevin Spacey) and his associates (played by Jon Bernthal, Jon Hamm and Jamie Foxx) are not exactly interested in losing their talented getaway driver.

Wright has used the idea for this film previously for a 2003 music video for ‘Blue Song’ by the band Mint Royale starring British comedian Noel Fielding (of the Mighty Boosh) as a getaway driver. According to Wright the film was inspired by films such as Straight Time, Point Break, Reservoir Dogs and Heat. Watching this trailer I was reminded of films like Fingers, The Driver, The Transporter film and TV series and Drive as well. Baby Driver looks like it’ll be a fun film made up of equal parts action, comedy and lots and lots of music.

Baby Driver is directed by Edgar Wright and stars Ansel Elgort, Jon Bernthal, Jamie Foxx, Eiza González, Jon Hamm, Lily James and Kevin Spacey. It will be released in the U.S. on August 11th, 2017 and in the U.K. on August 18th. For international release dates, click here.
