It’s a feel-good comedy but way more ridiculous than I expected. Most often, a feel-good comedy is centered around tame jokes and a situation that is easily identifiable. This film seems to be based around a young man’s coming-of-age through time spent with a retired CIA assassin suffering a terminal illness. Awkward new kid Ed Wallis is trying to find his place in the world. Everything turns out less than stellar as people keep on picking on him until he gets a school assignment to interview an old person. That old person turns out to be Mickey Rourke pretending to be a CIA agent. At the same time that this is a coming-of-age piece, it is also has an approaching death angle making this an interesting film to put on your queue.
Ashby is directed by Tony McNamara and stars Nat Wolff along with Emma Roberts. U.S. movie goers can expect a September 25th release and a September 24th release in Russia. Those are the only release dates available at the time of writing.
