A woman tries to keep her family together through the end in As They Made Us, the directorial debut of Mayim Bialik.
Now, you probably know Bialik. The Blossom and Big Bang Theory star has had a long career in Hollywood (with a break to earn a doctorate in neuroscience), but here she moves behind to write and direct a small family drama.
In the film, Abigail is balancing her duties as a single mother with the duties of being a daughter to ailing parents. It would be a difficult time for anyone, but Abigail is the type who works hard to hold pieces together, and as all of her family units threaten to spin apart, she puts herself through the wringer to give them all the moments they need.
As with so many actor-turned-director projects, the film has attracted an impressive cast for Bialik to work with. The low-key great Dianna Agron stars as Abigail with Dustin Hoffman as the ailing father, Candice Bergen the difficult mother, Simon Helberg the distant brother, and Justin Chu Cary as a potential love interest. The fun of this movie will be seeing this cast come together as well as seeing what Bialik can do behind the camera.
As They Made Us is directed by Mayim Bialik and stars Dianna Agron, Dustin Hoffman, and Candice Bergen. It will be released in the US on April 8th. Further release dates are not currently known.
