ARKANSAS Trailer

Two guys get creative on the job at in Arkansas, the feature debut of co-writer and director Clark Duke.

Most of our jobs require some improvisation, but when you’re a bit player in a massive drug ring, going off-script can have deadly consequences. Kyle and Swin don’t have much choice, though, as their boss is worryingly absent. With no direction, they have to make it up as they go, making sure they avoid both law enforcement and the fallout of deals gone bad.

While Duke is a first-time director, you may recognize him from his extensive acting work. With roles in the Hot Tub Time Machine and Kickass series, he surely had the connections to get a feature made, and he wisely chose the pretty profitable subgenre of crime thrillers.

Of course, being an actor means he can also get a great cast together, and with Liam Hemsworth headlining along with Duke, this is almost sure to attract a decent audience. Add in co-stars like John Malkovich, Vince Vaughn, and Vivica A. Fox, and it looks like Duke had a lot of steady people to lean on during production.

With the slightly oddball feel to this trailer, I expect this will be a lighter take on the genre that, if balanced correctly, could end up being a great time (and might actually come out as scheduled thanks to its simultaneous VOD release).

Arkansas is directed by Clark Duke and stars Liam HemsworthDuke, and Vivica A. Fox. It will be released in theaters (?) and on VOD on May 1st, 2020. Further release dates are not currently known.
