ANGEL HAS FALLEN Trailer

People will not stop trying to murder the president, which means Gerard Butler is back to defend him in Angel Has Fallen.

Continuing the Olympus Has Fallen film series, stalwart secret service agent Mike Banning starts off the film in relative comfort. He’s been bumped up to director under new president Allan Trumbull, but then a harmless fishing trip goes awry. Another orchestrated attack occurs, and this time it’s intended to take Banning out of the picture. Framed for the attack and on the run, Banning must redeem his name and track down the people responsible before they take out the president.

Taking over the reigns for the series is Ric Roman Waugh, who was a stuntman before he started making movies where men rampage. With films like Shot Caller and Snitch under his belt, Angel Has Fallen seems right in his wheelhouse.

Really, though, this series is all about Gerard Butler, who has become the face of big, silly action movies. Many people will be happy as long as he grumbles his way through the movie with his barely veiled accent and kicks some butt, and this trailer promises just that. Joining him again is Morgan Freeman, but most of the cast is new to the series, including the replacement of Radha Mitchell with Piper Perabo as Butler’s wife.

The core pieces remain in place for the series, though, so fans should expect to have more of the same fun.

Angel Has Fallen is directed by Ric Roman Waugh and stars Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, and Piper Perabo. It will be released in the US and the UK on August 23rd, 2019. For international release dates, click here.
