Twisted lives twist again in All the Old Knives, the latest from director Janus Metz.
Henry and Celia have history. In addition to working together on high-stakes missions for the CIA they were once romantically linked, but time has cooled both their personal and professional relationship. After not seeing each other in years, they reconnect for dinner. Celia thinks this is a casual rendezvous, but Henry comes with a mission: he’s tracking down a mole responsible for a deadly hijacking, and Celia hasn’t been ruled out.
With two very smart characters facing off, the casting of the central duo will be key to the film’s success. They did well getting Chris Pine and Thandiwe Newton to play Henry and Celia, because who doesn’t want to see those two teasing out a juicy history? Co-starring with them are Laurence Fishburne and Jonathan Pryce.
Keeping the whole thing running is Danish director Janus Metz, who’s had a varied career, including popping in for an episode of True Detective and helming the tennis drama Borg vs. McEnroe. A thriller like this is well within his wheelhouse, and with Olen Steinhauer adapting his own book, there’s little reason to think this will go off the rails.
All the Old Knives is directed by Janus Metz and stars Chris Pine, Thandiwe Newton, and Laurence Fishburne. It will be released on Amazon Prime Video April 8th, 2022.
