A QUIET PLACE PART II Trailer

They’re rolling the dice that people will return to theaters for A Quiet Place Part II, the latest from writer/director John Krasinski.

As one of the first films to be pulled because of COVID-19, the sequel to the 2018 smash hit has become one of the industry’s longest holdouts, and one of the first to get a traditional theatrical release. That’s right, there’ll be no simultaneous VOD release for A Quiet Place Part II, apparently because this sound-reliant horror film was designed for, as Isabelle Huppert put it, “No snack. No drink. No food. Just in focus on movies. No noise.”

We all know you won’t get that kind of experience streaming in your living room, and realistically you’ll be lucky to get it at a theater, too. But when I saw the first A Quiet Place a strange thing occurred: people sheepishly put their popcorn down as the sound design brought the theater to near silence, and pretty soon everyone was too ensnared by Krasinski’s meticulously crafted horror film to even think about snacking.

Hopefully the second outing with the Abbott family trying to survive an auditory-dependent monster infestation will elicit the same rapt attention. Considering all the core players are back, including writer/director Krasinski and stars Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe, I see no reason why it wouldn’t.

A Quiet Place Part II is directed by John Krasinski and stars Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe, Cillian Murphy, and Djimon Hounsou. It will be released in the US on May 28th, 2021, and in the UK on June 4th, 2021. For international release dates, click here.

Will you sit quietly for another outing? Are you comfortable going back to theaters or will you wait to see this at home? Let us know in the comments!
