Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in the hot seat in 7500, the feature debut of director and co-writer Patrick Vollrath.

That title may seem like gobbledygook to you because, well, it is. It’s the code for a plane hijacking, which Gordon-Levitt’s Tobias must send when a group of men try to storm the c*ckpit during a routine flight. He’s the co-pilot, but he’s forced to navigate the situation alone when the pilot is stabbed in the initial tussle. He manages to get the c*ckpit door closed, setting up an agonizing flight to safety as the hijackers try everything to get him to open the door.

It looks like this movie will stay mostly in the c*ckpit with our everyman, which gives Vollrath a hell of a task to pull off. With little space to work with he’ll have to sustain the drama for an entire feature, and his greenness means we have no indication how he’ll approach it.

The good news is that he does have Gordon-Levitt, who’s been in the business plenty long enough to pull off this mostly one-hander. Co-starring with him is Omid Memar as one of the terrorists and Aylin Tezel as his girlfriend/flight attendant.

So I guess if you want to stare at Gordon-Levitt for an hour and half, good news!

7500 is directed by Patrick Vollrath and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It will be released in the US on Jun 19th, 2020 on Amazon Prime.
