7 Days in Entebbe is a film about the 1976 hijacking of Air France flight 139 by a group of Palestinian terrorists and the subsequent rescue of the hostages by a group of Israel Defense Forces commandos. It’s is the first adaptation of the story since the 1970s during which three adaptations were released within two years after the incident. 7 Days in Entebbe will be a fresh take on the events in question as new information about the rescue operation has been released to the public since the 1970s.
The man behind this ambitious project, Brazilian director José Padilha, has a lot of experience in the action genre. His two Elite Squad films are known for their intense depiction of the brutal violence in the Brazilian favelas and were highly popular in his native Brazil. He’s also made a name for himself by producing the first two seasons of the immensely popular Netflix series Narcos which starred his frequent collaborator Brazilian actor Wagner Moura as infamous Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.
7 Days in Entebbe has a lot of potential to be a great tense action thriller that will have its audience on the edge of their seat, especially those without prior knowledge. The cast includes a number of very talented actors who will undoubtedly make the script come to life.
7 Days in Entebbe is directed by José Padilha and stars Daniel Brühl, Rosamund Pike, Eddie Marsan, Lior Ashkenazi, Mark Ivanir, Denis Ménochet, Brontis Jodorowsky, Angel Bonanni, Nonso Anozie, Vincent Riotta, Yiftach Klein, Natalie Stone, Trudy Weiss and Michael Lewis. It will be released in the U.K. on March 9th, 2018 and in the U.S. on March 16th, 2018. For international release dates click here.
