68 KILL Trailer

Pulp is what 68 Kill offers up, both in the sensational violence department and the end state of Matthew Gray Gubler’s face.

Winner of the Audience Award in the Midnighters section of South by Southwest and the amazingly named Most Effectively Offensive award at the Boston Underground Film Festival, it’s easy to see why 68 Kill stands out. It revels in its violence, but it’s knowingly silly.

Gubler is an inspired choice as the hapless man out of his depth, who after a robbery gone wrong spirals into a period of chaos. His quirky charm has been well-developed over many seasons of Criminal Minds, and it’s always nice to see him flex his comedic chops.

That comedy, of course, is being dished out with a ton of violence and sex, not least of which from the femme fatale played by AnnaLynne McCord. If her full performance has half the salacious gusto shown in this trailer, then she should be great fun to watch wreak havoc.

Alisha Boe gets in on the action, too, and the whole thing comes from low-budget horror veteran Trent HaagaHaaga, though, is not the originator of the premise, as the film is remarkably an adaptation of the book of the same name.

This is definitely material for a niche audience, so expect its theatrical run to be brief. These films find life in the home viewing market, and I wouldn’t be surprised if 68 Kill builds a strong following over time.

68 Kill is directed by Trent Haaga and stars Matthew Gray GublerAnnaLynne McCord, and Alisha Boe. It will be released in the U.S. in theaters and on demand on August 4th, 2017. Further release dates are not currently known.
