THE 15:17 TO PARIS Trailer

Clint Eastwood is back with another tale of American heroism, but this time he’s letting the real people tell their story.

The 15:17 to Paris is based on the true story of a stymied terrorist attack where several train passengers subdued an armed man. Three of them were American vacationers, friends who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Eastwood recruited the trio to play themselves in the film, taking the risk that their presence will add something extra to his everyday heroes biopic.

It’s all familiar territory for Eastwood, who in recent years has been churning out movies based on real events. His output would be prolific even for a man half his age, but with the clout he carries, I doubt he has to struggle much to get his projects off the ground. Recently, he even led a successful appeal with the MPAA, getting 15:17 to Paris’ R-rating downgraded to a more marketable PG-13.

So yeah, Eastwood can pretty much work on whatever he wants. When he chooses to go with the real guys over actors, people acquiesce and let him try it out. It doesn’t mean the experiment will work, but it adds an interesting wrinkle to a movie that seems all too familiar.

The 15:17 to Paris is directed by Clint Eastwood and stars Anthony SadlerAlek Skarlatos, and Spencer Stone. It will be released in the U.S. and the U.K. on February 9th, 2018. For international release dates, click here.
