MOJIN: THE LOST LEGEND Trailer

Mojin: The Lost Legend is an upcoming Chinese fantasy adventure/action film – and it looks spectacular. It is based on the in China best-selling novel “Ghost Blows Out The Light”, written by Zhang Muye. The book was first published online in 2006, but has since gained enormous popularity, although the writer had to remove references to the supernatural before it could be published in print form.

Although no official movie plot has been released yet, we can derive from the book what the movie will be broadly about. The story is set in the 1980s, and it follows a former soldier (Chen Kun) and his partner – two treasure hunters in search of valuables. They team up with an American archaeologist (Shu Qi) after they have fallen victim to a curse on their latest tomb raid. They must venture into ancient mythical sites across China to find the clues that will lead to the release of the curse.

The trailer looks great – the mythical Chinese setting looks engrossing, it looks like the film is dosed with a big amount of humor, and it has the feel of National Treasure on overdrive.

Mojin: The Lost Legend is directed by Wuershan and is set for release in China on December 18, 2015. It gets a release in Singapore on January 7, 2016, but no other international release dates have been scheduled as of yet.

Do you hope Mojin gets a wide international release, too? Would you be interested in seeing more Chinese blockbuster-style films?
