CHEF Trailer

CHEF Trailer

Avatar photo

Chef Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) suddenly quits his job at a prominent Los Angeles restaurant after refusing to compromise his creative integrity for its controlling owner (Dustin Hoffman). He is left to figure out what’s next. Finding himself in Miami, he teams up with his ex-wife, his friend and his son to launch a food truck. Taking to the road, Chef Carl goes back to his roots to reignite his passion for the kitchen — and zest for life and love.

Watch the trailer below!

I’m a little skeptical about these one-man shows – Jon Favreau being director, writer and star of the movie – as I just saw John Turturro’s Fading Gigolo (review coming up soon!), and it was a bit too self-involved. I hope Favreau‘s Chef is going to be different, and is going to be as much fun as the trailer promises to be, although I hope the balls jokes, as in the end of the trailer, will be limited. The movie has a great cast, too – lots of big names and other familiar faces, so it has that going for it  (although coincidentally , Sofía Vergara was also in Fading Gigolo).

I predict Chef is going to be a feel-good, smooth, if fairly plain comedy. After Transcendence, I’m game for a movie that doesn’t pretend to be more than it is.

In any case, the movie’s about food and I love food as well as food reality TV, so I guess it’s going to be at least somewhat enjoyable!

Does Chef look like fun to you? Will you be seeing it?
